Kenneth L. Schubert Jr. Diversity Fellowship Program

We are committed to the full participation and inclusion of diverse professionals in our firm and the legal profession as part of our core values of diversity and inclusion. To that end, we seek diverse attorneys, whether persons of color, women, LGBTQ, or persons with physical limitations and whether they represent economic, geographic, social, ethnic, racial or religious diversity. With these core values in mind, we created the Kenneth L. Schubert Jr. Diversity Fellowship Program to honor one of our founders, Ken Schubert Jr., a champion of diversity in the profession.

The Kenneth L. Schubert Jr. Diversity Fellowship will be offered to students who will be in their second year of law school during the 2016-2017 school year. Tinny Faulkner | 2016 Diversity Fellow

“I have had an incredible time working at GSB this summer, and truly value the support I have received during my time here. I have worked on a variety of projects with partners and associates across practice groups. It has been exciting to see my research used by partners to advise clients, and to work with attorneys to draft and revise agreements. I have also enjoyed exploring the areas of Hospitality, Intellectual Property, Labor and Employment, Bankruptcy, and Estate Planning. GSB has also done an excellent job of organizing social events, including the Pike’s Place Market Tour and the Mariners Game. Interacting with the attorneys and staff has definitely showed me that GSB is a collaborative environment that works to foster growth and success.”

Chike Eze | 2015 Diversity Fellow

“I really appreciate GSB’s collaborative and supportive environment. I had the opportunity to work on real projects with different partners, senior associates and staff across practice teams. One of those projects involved assisting a partner on a court motion. I was especially excited to witness the partner argue the motion in front of the Judge at the King County Superior Court. In addition, with the support and guidance of my mentor and the summer program coordinator, I was able to work on several projects (litigation and transactional) in my area of interest, Intellectual Property. Lastly, I cannot forget GSB’s fun committee, “The Hoopla,” who organized great social events both in and out of the office—my favorites: the office golf tournament, the concert at Chateau Ste. Michelle, and the ‘famous’ sailboat ride.”
