Broadcasting

Garvey Schubert Barer represents commercial and noncommercial broadcast stations throughout the United States and its territories. Our services include advice on basic regulatory requirements; strategic updates on relevant FCC regulatory activity; the preparation, prosecution and defense of FCC applications; the planning of bidding strategies for auctions; and the negotiation of station sales and litigation.

Our lawyers guide stations through the regulatory requirements that affect all aspects of the broadcast business, including such matters as political advertising, lotteries, contests, on-air content, children's programming, employment, ownership, regulatory fees, tower registrations, renewals, facilities modification, application for and construction of new stations, and electronic filings.

The firm also assists its noncommercial broadcast clients in their relationships with federal authorities in addition to the FCC, such as the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Public Broadcasting Service, and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.
