Internet
With a long history in the area of Internet, our lawyers have been at the vanguard of a rapidly changing industry. Our work includes the following examples:
- A start-up Web site operator came to us for assistance in its effort to provide subscription-based digital interactive music downloads, a digital jukebox. We drafted the subscription agreement, privacy and user agreements, as well as independent contractor agreements for software developers and ad companies; worked on copyright and trademarks issues; and advised on content issues, music downloading, and secure payment systems on the Internet.
- We drafted station intellectual property policies that allowed stations and volunteer producers to distribute and archive digital programs.
- A public radio client conducted an online talent quest for public radio program personalities. We wrote the rules for this successful nationwide contest and helped our client interpret the rules to pick the best new on-air talent.
- We helped create the first of the competitive long-distance telephone companies and later represented the company in its legal battle that eventually led to the breakup of monopoly telephone service. This work changed the landscape of the telephone business.
- We have drafted and negotiated agreements for purchasing and selling domestic and international telecommunications services, switching systems, satellites, shared tenant services, Internet infrastructure, interconnection of wireless carriers, and telecommunications assets.
