Telecommunications

Our attorneys represent a broad array of telecommunications clients, serving their clients’ state and federal needs, ranging from enforcing rights to intercarrier compensation, interconnection, and rights-of-way, advising on IP-enabled services such as Voice over IP, overseeing distribution of universal service funds, providing guidance for compliance with Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA), negotiating agreements for private and common carriers and for mergers and acquisitions, monitoring legislative proceedings, applying for broadband grants, to participating in rulemakings affecting their clients’ businesses such as network neutrality.

They have significant experience trying cases in state and federal courts, and arguing appeals on behalf of cable television companies, broadcasters, competitive local exchange carriers and cellular telephone companies. In addition, they have defended clients in proceedings initiated by state attorneys general in the area of consumer protection, such as truth in billing, slamming, and related areas. They represent clients in arbitrations and before state public utilities commissions as well before the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Department of Justice.

Our telecommunications lawyers are published authors whose body of work has been cited as legal authority in court filings (including U.S. Supreme Court briefs), academic journals, trade publications, and national newspapers. They are regularly called upon to serve as speakers, lecturers, and moderators at industry seminars and conferences.
