SEATTLE, Wash. and PORTLAND, Ore. (January 3, 2017) Garvey Schubert Barer (GSB) today announced that Erin Karpinski Hoerster, Susan Kim, and Daniel Vecchio have been elevated to owners at the firm.

Eryn Karpinski Hoerster, based in the firm’s Portland office, is part of GSB’s litigation practice. Ms. Hoerster assists clients involved in complex commercial and regulatory matters, including white collar criminal defense, employment litigation and tax disputes. She serves on the Board of Directors of PHAME and provides pro bono legal services through the U.S. District Court Pro Bono Panel. Ms. Hoerster attended the University of Chicago’s College and Law School.  

Susan Kim’s practice focuses on real estate and hospitality. Based in the firm’s Seattle office, she counsels businesses in a broad range of real estate and hospitality matters, including real estate purchase and sale transactions; office, retail, and restaurant leases; and hotel management agreements.  She also has experience in federal income taxation and litigation. Ms. Kim’s experience before joining GSB in 2014 includes serving as in-house counsel for Vulcan, Inc. and as an associate in the Los Angeles offices of Sullivan & Cromwell and Morrison & Foerster.  Ms. Kim received her B.A. from Dartmouth College and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Daniel Vecchio is a litigator in the firm’s Seattle office whose practice focuses on commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and other debtor/creditor issues. Since joining GSB in 2012, he has represented clients in connection with complex litigation arising out of alleged Ponzi schemes or other alleged financial fraud, commercial arbitration, regulatory investigations, bankruptcy proceedings, and trust and estate litigation. Prior to joining GSB, Mr. Vecchio was an associate at the San Francisco office of Morrison & Foerster LLP.  Mr. Vecchio received his B.A. from the University of Oregon and his J.D. from the University of California-Davis Law School.
