New hires with a wide range of experience are strategic step in growth of firm's IP capabilities
SEATTLE (July 27, 2016) - Garvey Schubert Barer (GSB) today announced that it has expanded its Intellectual Property (IP) Group, adding four new attorneys with deep experience in all aspects of Intellectual Property law. Julianne Henley, Shannon Stokke, Sherman Helenese and Heather Boyd are all based in the firm’s Seattle office.
The group, which includes more than 20 attorneys, has helped hundreds of clients with matters such as licensing, portfolio acquisitions, copyrights and trademarks, trade secrets, patent disputes, emerging technologies and others, consistently achieving favorable results protecting and defending clients’ intellectual property rights.
“There are intellectual property issues in nearly every type of transaction, and working collaboratively with other practice and industry groups at GSB, we are able to best serve client needs,” said Scott G. Warner, an Owner of the firm in the IP Group since 1995.
In addition, the IP group offers litigation services, including patent litigation, Section 337 actions, Trademark and Trade Dress litigation, Unfair Competition and False Advertising claims, Trade Secret Misappropriation, as well as copyright litigation and licensing disputes.

Shannon Stokke, a business, technology and intellectual property attorney, joins the firm as an Owner. She has extensive experience advising a wide range of established and emerging growth companies. Prior to her time with GSB, Stokke served as in-house counsel to Blue Nile, Inc., an online diamond and fine jewelry retailer.
Julianne Henley, Of Counsel, joins the firm with extensive experience counseling clients regarding trademark, copyright, domain name, Internet, customs, alcohol, licensing and related matters. She has assisted clients ranging from startups to FORTUNE 500 companies with intellectual property portfolio management and brand protection strategies. Prior to her work with GSB, Henley was a Counsel in the Trademark, Copyright, Media & Brand Protecting practice at Perkins Coie LLP.
Sherman Helenese, an attorney with extensive experience in intellectual property and technology transactions and related litigation, joins the firm as Owner. Helenese has wide-ranging experience advising companies of all sizes, including entrepreneurs, start-ups and publicly traded companies on topics including acquisition, management, monetization, licensing and enforcement of all aspects of intellectual property. Prior to his time with GSB, Helenese was a Shareholder at Karr Tuttle Campbell where he focused on intellectual property issues.
Heather Boyd, Staff Attorney, has more than 15 years of experience in the legal field representing small businesses, individual clients and large corporations in transactional and litigation matters. She brings a broad experience base, focusing on practice areas ranging from Hospitality to Real Estate to Intellectual Property to Tax. Previously, Boyd was an Owner with Boyd Law Corp.
