SEATTLE, July 29, 2009 – Garvey Schubert Barer is pleased to announce Akane R. Suzuki was named as one of the Puget Sound Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” honorees. This select list recognizes top business leaders in the community under the age of 40 who excel in their industry and demonstrate leadership.

Akane R. Suzuki is an owner in the firm’s Seattle office. Her practice focuses on federal taxation and all facets of the estate planning process, from basic planning for young families to complex trusts, family LLCs, family business succession planning, and charitable giving. In addition, she handles probate, trust administration, and gift and estate tax returns. Ms. Suzuki also advises tax exempt organizations regarding tax issues and has assisted many new nonprofit organizations obtain 501(c)(3) status. She speaks Japanese fluently and assists many clients with international estate planning.
In addition, Ms. Suzuki is a frequent speaker for community groups, and serves a board member for the Japan Business Association of Seattle and MAMAS (Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association of Seattle). She also is a member of the Japan-America Society of Washington, the Rotary Club of Seattle, and the Nichibei Women's Network, Estate Planning Council of Seattle, Washington Women in Tax, and Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners.
