SEATTLE, May 8, 2008 – Garvey Schubert Barer is pleased to announce that Kenneth L. Schubert, Jr., an owner in the firm's Seattle office, has been selected by the Washington State Bar Association to receive the Stouder Award for his long-term achievements and contributions to tax practice in the state.
Established in 1999, the Stouder Award is presented on occasion by the bar's Tax Section to exemplary tax practitioners who have made extraordinary efforts in the advancement of the tax bar and tax practice in Washington.
A founding member of the firm in 1966, Mr. Schubert has devoted a substantial portion of his practice to estate planning and trust and probate administration since 1970. He has extensive experience advising owners of family-held businesses on estate planning and administering large estates and trusts. He also serves as lead counsel in litigation involving complex trusts, estates, and estate tax disputes. Mr. Schubert has an active business practice as well, acting as outside general counsel to a number of large, closely-held family businesses.
