FCC chairman Ajit Pai confirmed on May 8 that they would be vetting the viewer complaints in regards to Stephen Colbert's remarks about Donald Trump on his Late Night show and may take "appropriate action," causing an uproar within the Writers Guild of America. John Crigler of GSB's Media, Telecom and Technology Practice Group, who has defended broadcasters against indecency and even obscenity claims, commented on the repercussions that this may have for Mr. Colbert and his writers, noting that: "The complaint can be the punishment."
