In the article titled "What New Law, Ruling or Regulation is Opening the Door to Litigation?" Kathleen is quoted in saying "I do not see a new law currently driving local business litigation."
"However, given the pressure on state and local government to raise revenue in order to cover budgetary shortfalls, there is renewed interest in enforcing employee classification laws. If an agency determines a business has misclassified workers as independent contractors, assessments may be significant. These disputes often lead to hotly contested litigation."
