SEATTLE, November 24, 2008 – Garvey Schubert Barer founding partner Michael Garvey was honored earlier this month with the United Seamen's Service's 2008 Admiral of the Ocean Sea award. The award is the U.S. maritime industry's most prestigious honor, recognizing individuals in the shipping industry who have made significant contributions to American shipping and American seafarers.
After joining with close friends and business associates to found Saltchuk Resources, Inc., in 1982, Mike Garvey left the practice of law to focus on building Saltchuk into a family of more than 20 independent operation companies. "We salute our colleague and friend Mike Garvey on this significant achievement," said John Hoerster, Chair of Garvey Schubert Barer. "We thank him for his leadership of our firm in its formative years, and for his sage advice and counsel to this day."
