WASHINGTON, D.C., February 18, 2009 – Garvey Schubert Barer is pleased to announce that Richard Wegman, an owner in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office, has been named chairman of the Montgomery County Green Task Force of Maryland.
The task force is comprised of lawmakers, bureaucrats, educators, entrepreneurs and local utilities focused on transforming the county into a destination hotspot for the clean technology industry. More than 223 green technology companies are based in the county already.
“Montgomery County is really ideally situated to replicate what it did 25 years ago in the biotechnology sector … and become a real leader [in green technology],” said Wegman.
The county is one of eight jurisdictions throughout the country to create a green economy strategy through the Climate Prosperity Project, launched in 2007 by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.
