Beijing, China, June 5, 2013 - CIFA, Garvey Schubert Barer and Beijing Dacheng Law Firm co-organized the Seminar on “American Logistics Regulatory and Investment Law” (hereinafter referred as “Seminar”) at the headquarters of Dacheng Law Firm. Nearly 40 freight forwarders and logistics companies participated in the Seminar.

Mr. Liu Xuede, Vice President and General Secretary of CIFA, presided at the Seminar. Mr. Richard Gluck, Partner of Garvey Schubert Barer, Legal Adviser of TIA and Chairman of FIATA’s Advisory Body on Legal Matters, gave a keynote speech on American freight transportation and logistics industry including investment environment, investment mode, industry development trend and its main features. Ms. Liu Zhanfang, Vice President of CIFA, Mr. Yang Yuntao, General Counsel of SINOTRANS & CSC, Director of CIFA’s Advisory Body on Legal Matters and Vice Chairman of FIATA’s Advisory Body on Legal Matters, Mr. Leo Peng, the Chief Representative of Garvey Schubert Barer Beijing Office and Partner, Mr. Andrew Rourke, Partner of Clyde & Co Shanghai Office as well as Mr. Wang Yingbo, the Senior Partner of Dacheng Law Firm attended the Seminar.

The topic of Seminar is the introduction of opportunity and legal issues faced by Chinese companies in investing in the freight transportation and logistics industry in the United States and discussions on comparison of related legal systems and practical problems in the two countries. Based on his years of experience in the industry, Mr. Richard Gluck made comparison of China-US logistics industries including the hot legal issues and relevant legal regulations. From the practical perspective, he explained the feasibility of Chinese logistic companies’ investment in U.S. market based on commonalities and differences. He had in-depth discussions on the specific operation methods and effective experience of China-U.S. NVOCC.

Participants believed that the Seminar enabled them to further understand the basic regulations of U.S. transportation and logistics industries and enlightened them on the strategy in dealing with similar cases and enterprises operation. At the same time, it strengthened the exchanges and communications among the guests and fully shared their business experiences. The organizers expressed that they plan to hold such activities more frequently in the future and create opportunities and a platform of learning and exchanges for enterprises.
