David Gee practices in the areas of healthcare law, business law, employment law, and mergers and acquisitions. As a member of the firm’s full-service health law practice, David represents clinical laboratories across the country. David has advised clinical labs for the past 20 years, both as outside legal counsel on behalf of the firm, and as in-house legal counsel prior to joining the firm. Mr. Gee also represents an array of other healthcare providers including hospitals, long-term care facilities and physicians. As a former in-house attorney and executive officer of a publicly-traded company, he brings both a legal and a business perspective to his practice.
Prior to joining the firm in 1996, Mr. Gee served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Unilab Corporation, a publicly-traded clinical laboratory company in California prior to its acquisition by Quest Diagnostics. He also previously served as associate counsel for Laboratory Corporation of America and National Health Laboratories; serving as director of litigation and chief employment counsel, in addition to his role as regional operations healthcare compliance counsel.
Currently, Mr. Gee provides legal guidance regarding corporate governance, business operations and transactions, healthcare compliance, HIPAA and Stark regulations, Medicare/Medicaid law reimbursement, managed care, patient rights and quality assurance. He has also managed the due diligence required in the acquisition of several multimillion dollar laboratory operations.
Mr. Gee also has broad experience with employment law, including developing employment policies, handbooks and contracts, and well as providing training to human resources departments and company managers regarding compliance with California, Washington and federal employment laws.
