John Junkin has 35 years of experience practicing government law, land use and real estate law, condemnation, and business law. Mr. Junkin served as the Washington County counsel from 1982 to 1996, and also as general counsel to the Unified Sewerage Agency, Washington County Housing Authority and the Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency. He provides his clients with advice and representation in courts and before regulatory agencies in a variety of areas, including contract, property acquisition / condemnation, land use, government ethics and tort. Mr. Junkin provides both his private and public clients an invaluable perspective and unique insight in governmental, condemnation and land use matters.
While serving as the Washington County counsel, Mr. Junkin was instrumental in several significant developments, including the establishment of the Washington County Comprehensive Plan element for the Sunset Corridor area of Washington County (commonly known as the "Silicon Forest"); drafting of the Washington County Growth Management Policies and Traffic Impact Fee Ordinance; the formation of several governmental special districts; and the negotiation of Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) agreements with several large technology businesses within Washington County.
Mr. Junkin currently advises and represents private parties and businesses in governmental relations, real estate and land development and condemnation, as well as, from time to time, advising and representing local governments. He has worked directly with elected officials, staff and government attorneys throughout the state and is well respected in his field.
