Mark Friedman focuses his practice on business-related litigation and dispute resolution. Mr. Friedman is both experienced and effective in class action and multiparty litigation. As a former CPA, he effectively applies his financial accounting background to the business litigation environment. He has represented clients in numerous cases involving significant financial and business transactional losses. His emphasis is in directors and officers, accountants, trustees, and other professional liability claims and litigation, and related insurance coverage issues.
His experience covers a broad range of disputes including securities fraud, common law fraud, breach of fiduciary duties, breach of contract, corporate waste, appropriation of trade secrets, tortious interference with business opportunities, unlawful trade practices, business defamation, construction defect or delay, hostile environment, and wrongful discharge employment claims and fidelity bond claims in Oregon, Washington, California, Utah, Idaho and Alaska. Mr. Friedman has devoted a 30-year legal career to successfully representing individual, corporate and institutional clients (including Japanese corporate clients) in substantial litigation and dispute resolution environments.
Mr. Friedman has been a public speaker for Law Seminars International, the Oregon Bankers Association, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Oregon State Bar, and Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has conducted training and legal education seminars on diverse topics such as trial techniques, presentation of complex damages evidence, director and officer liability claim avoidance and insurance coverages, corporate risk avoidance and professional ethics for lawyers and CPAs.
Mr. Friedman has authored several articles on professional conduct and legal liability issues affecting accountants, certified valuation analysts, and their clients, and has published document retention guidelines for members of the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants.
