"Call to Action" regarding Substitute House Bill 1371: Boards and Commissions

Our friends at Seattle's Convention and Visitors Bureau have issued a "Call to Action" regarding Substitute House Bill 1371: Boards and Commissions. They have requested our help with the following:

Section 76 (3) (a) permanently restricts state agencies from using funds for travel and renting private facilities like hotels for meetings.

Please contact members of the House Ways & Means Committee TODAY to urge them to reject this provision in the bill!

Suggested message points:

    • We understand the desire of the legislature to save money, but simply requiring state meetings be conducted at public facilities does not save money
    • If a private facility can provide a place for less money they should be able to compete for the business
    • Allow for flexibility and the opportunity for the competitive process to work.

Ask your Representative to amend SHB 1371 by removing the permanent restriction on travel and the use of private facilities for meetings.

Ask your employees to call, too!

Let your representative know that jobs in Washington's lodging industry are at stake.
