SEATTLE, March 20, 2008 – Garvey Schubert Barer is pleased to announce Leo C. Peng has been named chief representative and managing director of the firm's Beijing office. On February 18, 2008, the Bureau of Justice of Beijing Municipality issued the Certificate of Practice for Peng as chief representative.
Mr. Peng, previously an attorney in Garvey Schubert Barer's Seattle office, relocated to Beijing in 2007 to help spearhead the firm's growth plans both in the greater China area and in representing Chinese interests in the United States, with a particular focus on trade and immigration matters.
Mr. Peng's practice focuses on comprehensive immigration planning for U.S. and multinational companies and their employees, as well as for individual clients. He has more than a decade of experience in immigration law, particularly in obtaining permanent residency status and nonimmigrant visas for clients from around the world. He has consulted on mergers and acquisitions, established corporate immigration policies, and developed recruitment plans for companies throughout United States. In addition, Mr. Peng assists U.S. and multinational companies in all aspects of temporary hiring or transfer of foreign national employees to work in the United States. He earned his J.D. (1994) from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, W.S. Richardson School of Law, and his B.A. (1991) in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley.
