Schubert, Jr. was named as the “Best Lawyers Litigation - Trusts & Estates Lawyer of the Year” in Seattle, and Edward J. Sullivan has been named the “Best Lawyers Litigation - Land Use & Zoning Lawyer of the Year” in Portland, Ore.

Kenneth L Schubert, Jr. is a founding member of Garvey Schubert Barer. Having celebrated his 46th year, Schubert is one of the most-respected Trusts and Estate Lawyers in the Pacific Northwest. He has extensive experience advising owners of family-held businesses on estate planning and administering large estates and trusts. Schubert is particularly familiar with Washington trust law, having chaired the task force of the Washington State Bar Association that produced the 1984 Washington Trust Act. He also chaired the committee that produced the 1999 Trust and Estate Dispute Resolution Act (TEDRA). Schubert earned his J.D., Order of the Coif, from University of Washington School of Law, where he was comments editor for the Washington Law Review.
Edward J. Sullivan is an Owner in the Portland office of Garvey Schubert Barer. With more than four decades devoted to his field, Sullivan is regarded as one of the premier land use attorneys in the country. He is frequently involved in major land use controversies in the State of Oregon, acting on behalf of appellants, opponents and local governments. Sullivan has written numerous law review articles on land use and administrative law and has been the associate editor and writer for the Oregon State Bar's Real Estate and Land Use Law Digest since its inception in 1979. In addition, he served as a board member of the Oregon Chapter of the American Planning Association and Chair of the Legislative and Policy Affairs Committee since 2000. He is an active member of the International Municipal Lawyers Association, and served as the Chair of the American Bar Association Section on State and Local Government Law in 2007. Sullivan is admitted to practice in Oregon, Washington and the District of Columbia and all courts within those jurisdictions. Sullivan holds a LL.M. from University College (London) and earned his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law.
