Garvey Schubert Barer (GSB) today announced that Diana Breaux has joined the firm as Principal in GSB’s Seattle office. Breaux will be part of GSB’s Litigation Practice Group, where she will focus on representing clients in business and intellectual property disputes.
A seasoned litigator, Breaux’s proven track record includes handling cases through trial and resolving cases early through strategic motion practice. She has a long history of working closely with clients in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements to minimize litigation risk. Breaux assists clients in a variety of substantive areas, including: contract disputes and business torts, anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy actions, patent and trademark litigation, and securities litigation.
Before joining GSB, Breaux litigated cases for more than a decade—first at a New York City firm, where she gained significant courtroom experience representing clients in bench and jury trials in federal courts, and later at a boutique litigation firm in Seattle, where she had been named Partner.
“Diana’s strong and diverse background complement our existing team of talented litigators and client counselors on both coasts,” said GSB chair Greg Duff. “Her extensive dispute resolution and risk management experience is an invaluable asset that will allow us to better serve our clients. We’re extremely thrilled to have her onboard.”
Breaux’s active pro bono practice encompasses engagements representing asylum candidates in Immigration Court and before the Board of Immigration Appeals, and providing legal aid to prisoners seeking post-conviction relief. Before law school, she conducted research on anti-poverty initiatives and authored numerous publications as a Research Analyst at Manpower Development Research Corporation, a non-profit public policy research firm. “There were three factors that drove my decision to join GSB,” said Breaux. “First off, GSB's commitment to client service. Second, the firm's dedication to a collaborative and progressive culture. Lastly, I value GSB’s ongoing commitment to diversity and the promotion of women attorneys, as exemplified by its sponsorship of MAMA Seattle. It’s where I want to be.”
Born and raised in Seattle, Breaux spends her time taking her family out on outdoor adventures throughout the region’s embarrassment of mountain riches. Since 2012, she has consistently been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Top-Rated Attorney and previously as a Rising Star. Breaux received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Barnard College and her Juris Doctorate degree from Fordham University School of Law.
